As a migrant, the first question that always comes to mind is what we should do when migrating to another country, what we should do, and what we should not do to avoid hassle. Here, I will share some of my experiences with everybody, facing difficulties when I migrated from Asia to Europe as a student back in 2015.
- As per our culture, especially from South Asia, we grow up in a joint family. However, all of a sudden, when we come to a totally different culture with different people around us, different circumstances, different food culture, and especially different weather, it becomes difficult to maintain our old lifestyle. But as students, we should remember why we are sacrificing our home, family, and everything else. We should keep focusing on our goal, whether it’s studying or working. Therefore, as migrants, we can take some basic steps to avoid confusion:
- Search on social media about the specific country you want to migrate to.
- Find community groups from your country in the specific country you want to migrate to. By joining these communities, we can learn more about the people and culture.
- Try to make friends around you; it’s the easiest way to survive in a new country.
